Life On the Road

A Bay Near Mojacar

Tucked away somewhere north of Almeria is a little town called Mojacar. Then, tucked away down a 6km dirt road from Mojacar is a special little bay. We spent a few days camped up here, soaking up as much of this winter sunshine as our pasty bodies would allow. A few other campers were our neighbours for the weekend and we all lived the good life. Mornings we’d wake up and watch the sun climb out of the sea from our bed, back doors open and fresh coffee in hand. We’d walk along the beach in the day and watch the dogs play in the surf. Come evening, we’d take a stroll up into the hills behind us, reaching a vantage point that overlooked the entire bay. The sun would turn the hillsides orange and the only sounds you could hear were the birds singing, the waves crashing and the crunch of gravel as we walked. I don’t remember the name of the beach, or if it even had a name. One morning we woke up to a buffeting wind and lashing rain. There was a storm approaching. We decided to leave before that fun dirt road turned into a not-so-fun dirt road! All good things come to an end, and we’ll be happy to put our feet up here if we’re ever passing again.
