Van Build 1.0

In May 2019, we bought a Mercedes Sprinter panel van. Over the next 6 months we converted her into our tiny home on wheels, complete with a full size bed, kitchen and seating area. We blogged and filmed our entire build series, both as a way to document our journey and to provide useful tips and inspiration for those looking to start their own van build. We hope you enjoy exploring the evolution of Sophia.

Van Build Series: Week 15 - Our Water System Set-Up

All the jobs are converging together now! We started off this week by tackling some overhead storage, building the framing for the cupboards that will sit above bed. This will be where we store our clothes and we think one side each should be enough! We also introduce you to our lighting set up. It’s inspired by The Indie Projects, as we loved the look of their bulkhead lights. Especially as we live in Plymouth and Ben’s dad used to be in the navy, we loved the nautical touch it gives to the interior. But the biggest job this week was installing our water system. We aren’t having hot water, so it’s a relatively simple set up. However we are using an accumulator and a water pump, which will draw from a 50L tank we’ve installed in the rear of the van. Solar power, running water… it’s all coming together!
